TV Ratings: 'The Voice' Narrowly Beats 'Dancing With the Stars' Return
NBC reclaimed demo bragging rights from ABC on Monday night, with The Voice topping the season premiere of Dancing With the Stars.
The Voice, down from the prior week by roughly 11 percent, averaged a 2.4 rating among adults 18-49 in head-to-head competition with Dancing's 2.1 rating. For the ABC show, the premiere score was unmoved from the fall debut and up a promising three-tenths of a point from the comparable opener last spring. ABC managed to top the night in total viewers, however, with Dancing earning 11.9 million viewers over The Voice's 10.6 million.
At 10 p.m., NBC retained its demo advantage over ABC, though respective offerings Taken (1.0 adults) and Quantico (0.8 adults) both lost out to CBS' Scorpion (1.1 adults).
Scorpion was the only steady performer on the CBS lineup, as all four comedies were down from previous outings. It was an especially rough night for freshman Kevin Can Wait. The series lost nearly a quarter of its last demo showing for a 1.1 rating among adults 18-49. Man With a Plan, Superior Donuts and 2 Broke Girls followed, each earning a 1.0 demo rating.
On Fox, 24: Legacy came in with a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49, as APB came in with a 0.7 rating. The CW had a new Supergirl (0.6 adults) and Jane the Virgin (0.3 adults).
