Wednesday night was a rough one for Fox and NBC, with The Masked Singer hitting all-time lows in same-day numbers and NBC's Grinch musical not finding much under the ratings tree. CBS and ABC held up better, with both of CBS' dramas improving.

The Masked Singer led primetime among adults 18-49 with a 1.1 rating and 4.89 million viewers. Both numbers are the smallest ever for an initial airing of the series. I Can See Your Voice closed its season with a 0.8 in the 18-49 demographic and 3.43 million viewers, below its season averages.

On NBC, Dr. Seuss' The Grinch Musical struggled, bringing in just 2.6 million viewers and a 0.6 in adults 18-49. That puts it at the low end of the broadcast musicals aired in the past decade.

One bright spot for the networks came on CBS, where both SEAL Team (0.6 in adults 18-49, 4.47 million viewers) and SWAT (season highs of 0.5, 3.88 million) improved on their last outings. The Amazing Race was steady with a 0.7 in the demo and 4.15 million viewers.

The season premiere of The Great Christmas Light Fight on ABC also performed fairly well with a 0.7 in the demo and 4.02 million viewers, a little ahead of its 2019 averages. For Life (0.4, 2.12 million) ticked up as well.

News programming dominated the cable side of the ledger, as usual. Fox News led cable with 3.5 million viewers in primetime and had the two most watched shows in Tucker Carlson Tonight (3.98 million viewers) and Hannity (3.77 million). MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Show was third at 3.7 million viewers, while the premiere of MTV's The Challenge led the 18-49 rankings with a 0.5.
