A Deadly Adoption Still 3 - H 2015

Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig's stone-faced spin on a Lifetime movie, A Deadly Adoption, garnered a tad more attention than the typical movie of the week.

Quite expectedly, that led to boosted viewership for the cable network. The original Saturday broadcast of A Deadly Adoption averaged 2.1 million viewers. The network continued to push the show over the weekend, with a total of six telecasts, netting just north of 6 million viewers in a little more than 24 hours.

To be sure, that's not quite as high as some of Lifetime's biopic fare that's been surging of late. January's movie treatment of the late Whitney Houston averaged 4.5 million viewers for its inaugural telecast.

Then again, Lifetime didn't exactly give A Deadly Adoption any special treatment. Filmed in secret, the promotional rollout included little more than some strategically placed billboards and a few teaser trailers.

Among the network's movies so far this year, A Deadly Adoption only trails Whitney, Cleveland Abduction and With This Ring among its targeted audience of adults 25-54.
