TV Ratings: 'X Factor' Posts Highest Demo Performance Since Premiere
The first live performance show for The X Factor powered Fox to take home the easy ratings victory for Tuesday.
X Factor (11.8 million total viewers, 4.3 rating in adults 18-49 demographic) rose 10 percent from last week's comparable telecast in the demo and airing live certainly helped the reality competition series. Also, X Factor saw a 13 percent jump in total viewership. Notably, it posted its highest 18-49 rating since the series launched in September. X Factor, the top-rated program of the night, also grew from its first half-hour to the last 30 minutes, from a 3.6 to a 4.9.
ABC's Last Man Standing may have started off strong, but since then, the Tim Allen comedy has dipped and this week is no different. Last Man Standing (9.8 million, 2.8) sank 10 percent, which didn't help rookie comedy Man Up! (6.7 million, 1.9), which plunged 21 percent from its debut. The Dancing With the Stars results show (13.8 million, 2.5) dipped 4 percent, while Body of Proof (9.6 million, 1.9) remained steady.
CBS stuck true to its "most-watched network" motto, with veteran procedural NCIS (19 million, 4.0) ranking as the night's most-watched program and the highest-rated in its 8 p.m. time period. NCIS: LA (15.9 million, 3.7) posted its best 18-49 performance since late February. The newly-picked up Unforgettable (11.3 million, 2.5) was flat.
NBC's aging series The Biggest Loser (5.5 million, 1.9) matched its season low. Instead of airing an original Parenthood, the network opted to sample Prime Suspect (2.9 million, 1.0) on a new day and time.
The CW aired reruns of Ringer (1 million, 0.4; 819,000, 0.3).
ABC placed third on the night with an average demo rating of 2.3, behind Fox (4.3) and CBS (3.4). NBC was fourth (1.6) with the CW (0.3) in last.
