TV's 3 to See: 'United States of Tara,' 'Nurse Jackie,' and 'Sex Crimes Unit' on Tonight

THR's Live Feed recommends don't miss TV for Monday. Set your DVR.
"United States of Tara"

In the vast world that is our TV choices each day, The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed hopes to make your life a bit easier. Each day we’ll curate the top three shows and episodes we think you should tune in to.

For Monday, our three to see are:

HBO Special: Sex Crimes Unit, HBO, 9 p.m.

Sex Crimes Unit, part of HBO’s summer documentary series, goes inside America’s first Sex Crimes Prosecution Unit. Established in New York City in 1974 when the law wasn’t on the side of sex crime victims, the department sought to investigate cases and bring the guilty to justice. There was no model for what they were doing back then, so the department had to figure it out as it went.

Nurse Jackie Season Finale, Showtime, 10 p.m.

In the Season 3 finale, “…Deaf Blind Tumor Pee-Test,” Jackie (Edie Falco) finds the walls closing in around her – again: her marriage with Kevin (Dominic Fumusa) is being pushed to the limit as she continues to dodge a confrontation with him while juggling Coop’s (Peter Facinelli) birthday/wedding. But the real pressure comes from Akalitus (Anna Deavere Smith), who is tasked with getting Jackie to take a mandatory urine test. I’m already stressed out. Thankfully Merritt Wever’s Zoey is on hand to provide some comic relief.

United States of Tara Series Finale, Showtime, 10:30 p.m.

It was a bit of a shocker when Showtime announced that this would be the last season of United States of Tara. All season we’ve watched as Tara (Toni Collette) struggled with a violent new alter representing the half-brother who sexually abused her and who’s strategically killing off the other alters. Meanwhile, Tara’s family is beginning to strike out on their own paths. And her husband Max (John Corbett) grows increasingly frustrated with the possibility they’ll never see any progress with Tara’s illness. Will a trip to see a Boston expert help Tara? And will the family stick around to see if it does?
