Sanaa Lathan Boards Jordan Peele's 'The Twilight Zone'
Sanaa Lathan will be among the first actors to step into Jordan Peele's The Twilight Zone. The Nappily Ever After star has booked a role in one of the CBS All Access reboot's early episodes.
Lathan has been a TV and film fixture ever since her starring turn in the feature Love & Basketball in 2000. Her latest credits include dramas The Affair and Shots Fired, as well as features American Assassin and Now You See Me Too.
Not much info is available on the gig, only that she will appear in the episode titled "Rewind."
Peele's upcoming reboot of the famous anthology is still coming together. The only previous casting announcement has been Peele himself. The executive producer will also serve as host and narrator of the project, filling the role originally held by Rod Sterling.
"Rod Serling was an uncompromising visionary who not only shed light on social issues of his time, but prophesied issues of ours," Peele recently said. "I'm honored to carry on his legacy to a new generation of audiences as the gatekeeper of The Twilight Zone."
While CBS All Access waits for the new version, the streamer is plugging the original. All episodes of the original run, which started in October 1959, are currently on the platform.
Peele's Monkeypaw Productions and Simon Kinberg's (X-Men) Genre Films are executive producing the CBS Television Studios drama, alongside Win Rosenfeld, Audrey Chon, Carol Serling, Rick Berg and Greg Yaitanes (Banshee).
Lathan is repped by ICM.
