USA's Hacker Drama 'Mr. Robot' Adds Swedish Actor (Exclusive)
USA Network's hacker drama Mr. Robot is adding to its cast.
Swedish actor Martin Wallstrom will make his U.S. TV debut with a co-starring role in the pilot, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
From Universal Cable Productions, the drama pilot centers on a young programmer (Rami Malek, 24) who suffers from an antisocial disorder and can only connect to people by hacking them. Wallstrom will play Tyrell, a highly driven business executive whose Machiavellian pursuit to become chief technology officer is slowly revealed in the wake of a hacking scandal.
Sam Esmail (Comet) will pen the script and executive produce alongside Anonymous Content's Steve Golin (True Detective) and Chad Hamilton (Breakup at a Wedding). Carly Chaikin and Portia Doubleday co-star.
Based in Stockholm, Wallstrom's credits include Snabba Cash 3, Ego and Simple Simon, the latter of which was on the short list for the 2010 best foreign-language film at the Oscars. He recently wrapped Swedish TV series The Hundred Code, starring Dominic Monaghan (Lost) and Michael Nyqvist (Sweden's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). He's repped by Principato Young Entertainment and Agentfirman in Sweden.
