'The Voice' Coaches CeeLo Green, Gwen Stefani and Usher to Return

Auditioning for Green

Cee Lo Green was notorious for hitting on female singers during the blind auditions – and sometimes the strategy was less effective than others. Still, he shined as the top coaching candidate when highlighting a contestant's individuality, saying that he too is a man of many genres. (Also, when he had a cat, or a bird, or some kind of animal.)

There's about to be a battle on The Voice for those big red chairs.

Former coaches CeeLo Green, Gwen Stefani and Usher will return to the NBC singing competition on April 27 as advisers, the network announced Tuesday.

The trio will offer their expertise to the top eight singers left in the running under current coaches Adam Levine, Pharrell Williams, Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton.

The episode marks an important homecoming for one of the show's original stars, Green. After logging four seasons as a coach, he announced his exit in February 2014 on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

A two-time coach and one-time victor, Usher last appeared on the show in season six. Stefani, along with Williams, made her debut as a coach last season, when Aguilera mentored her team.

The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
