'The Voice': Is Christina Aguilera Crossing the Line?

The musician coach isn't afraid to speak her mind, but is it always necessary?

Last night's episode of The Voice was the first of the live telecasts and while many of the coaches were having a good time, one continually came across as rude in her comments and remarks.

When asked about her upfront back-and-forths with male musician coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera told CNN after last night's taping, "I'm getting one-two punched over here. And it's like, 'Hold on boys, quiet in the classroom!' " But is that reason enough to make digs here and there?

Case in point: After one of her team members Beverly McClellan performed and Levine showed regret for her not being on his team, Aguilera suggested at one point that he might "soil" his pants, which went on for a few more seconds. Afterward, Aguilera told Access Hollywood, "It's part of the fun, it's part of the game ... [The other coaches] are hilarious, but need to be put in their place."

But back in mid-March, Aguilera promised that the musician coaches would be nice. "This isn't about tearing people down. I want to bring these people up," she said at the time.

Levine -- who was "flattered" by Team Blake's choice to perform Maroon 5's "This Love" -- recently spoke to Rolling Stone, addressing the tension between him and Aguilera: "I don't know where it comes from. We just bicker like brother and sister, and part of it is fabricated by the television gods. … But if she busts my balls, I'll bust hers."

On Twitter, one user wrote during the show: "Oh, awkward. Christina, the insults are awkward. Awkward. Very awkward."

Another said: "I wish Christina had a more interesting point of view as coach. I get that she was a get for the show, but...something missing."

A reviewer went so far as dissecting Aguilera's wardrobe, observing, "She looks like an alien that has only ever seen pictures of Betty Boop and Jenna Jameson and thinks that is how humans dress."

And remember when the blind auditions -- an enticing introduction to the new NBC reality show -- when country crooner Patrick Thomas caught Aguilera's eye when she requested without batting an eye: "Can you take your pants off?" It was bound to happen again -- and on the live show, she sang the same song, saying outright, "I'm still waiting for you to take your pants off."

Entertainment Weekly spoke to Thomas post-show and he had a reaction many would have. "I still don't know what to say," he confessed. "I did blush and I am blushing. I told her off-camera, the first time she said it, that's a fluke. The second time, we're kind of verging on a pattern. I said if it happens again, I'm going to have to start flirting back."

One Twitter user joked: "Christina wants to see Patrick's "nuts of wonder."

But two can play this game: Aguilera wore tight, black hot pants in last night's episode. Is a trend forming? What do you think of Aguilera's stint on The Voice so far?

Next week: Team Adam and Team Cee Lo go head to head.
