'The Voice': Final Four Revealed

The final four finalists of NBC's The Voice season 16 were announced live on Tuesday night. Three of the top eight semifinalists were voted through by viewers after Monday night’s performances. The two bottom vote-getters were eliminated, and the remaining three had to sing for the Instant Save. Blake Shelton had five artists heading into the evening; John Legend had two; Kelly Clarkson had one; and Adam Levine had none.

Shelton opened the show with a performance of his song “God’s Country.” Host Carson Daly announced that Team Legend’s Maelyn Jarmon was the most streamed artist on Apple Music after Monday night’s performances. She also ended up being the first artist voted through to the finale.

Jarmon was joined by Team Blake’s Dexter Roberts, who was also voted into the final four.

Clarkson then took the stage with Team Kelly’s only semifinalist Rod Stokes for a performance of “Chances Are” by Bob Seger and Martina McBride.

The next artist through to the finale was Team Blake’s Gyth Rigdon. Team Blake’s season nine artist Emily Ann Roberts came back to the show to sing her new single “Someday Dream.”

The artists singing for the Instant Save were Team Legend’s Shawn Sounds, Team Kelly’s Rod Stokes and Team Blake’s Andrew Sevener. That left Team Blake’s Carter Lloyd Horne and Kim Cherry in the bottom, so they were automatically eliminated.

Sevener got the performances started with his rendition of “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd. He delivered a solid rock vocal that was entertaining and energetic. He didn’t seem to let nerves get to him.

Stokes followed with a performance of “Brother” by Needtobreathe featuring Gavin DeGraw. It was a solid song choice for him, showcasing his storytelling abilities and crisp country voice.

Sounds closed out the Instant Save performances with his take on “That’s What I Like” by Bruno Mars. It was a change of pace from his ballad on Monday night, and the uptempo song let him work the crowd a bit and show off a different side of his undeniable performing abilities.

Viewers voted to save Sevener. Shelton will have three artists in the finale, and Legend will have one. Clarkson is now out of the running, along with Levine.

The final four sing in the finale next week.
