In Tuesday night’s brutal elimination episode, four of season 12’s artists left The Voice. Coaches Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine, Alicia Keys and Blake Shelton all hoped to have their teams represented in next week’s finale. Three artists automatically advanced to the finale, while the bottom two were eliminated. The remaining three artists had to sing for the instant save.

The first artist to advance to the season 12 finale was Team Alicia’s Chris Blue, who secured his second consecutive four-coach standing ovation last night.

Levine took the stage to perform with Big Boi, and a video package revisited highlights from the top eight artists. Carson Daly brought the artists back to the stage to announce that Team Blake’s Lauren Duski also was voted through to the finale.

After some more filler, Daly announced the last artist to automatically advance to the finale: Team Blake’s Aliyah Moulden.

After a performance from DNCE, the artists who had to sing for the instant save were announced: Team Adam’s Jesse Larson and Team Gwen’s Hunter Plake and Brennley Brown. Team Blake’s TSoul and Team Alicia’s Vanessa Ferguson were automatically eliminated.

First up was Brown, singing Demi Lovato’s 'Warrior." She brought her own signature sound to the pop song and yet again proved talented beyond her years.

Plake performed "Love Runs Out" by OneRepublic, putting some twists on it that showcased his creative instincts. That’s what was missing from his performance on Monday night.

Larson sang "Tennessee Whiskey" by Chris Stapleton, which was another great song choice. Larson put on a good show, reminding viewers he’s a performer as well as an impressive vocalist.

After the votes were cast, Larson advanced to the finale, keeping Team Adam alive.

The top four artists will compete in next week’s finale. What did you think of tonight’s results?
