A wise man once said, "The negotiations were short." This man was clearly not speaking about the ongoing conversation between Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) of Alexandria and Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) of the Garbage People.

Rick faces off again with a phantom menace of sorts in the next episode of AMC's The Walking Dead, called "The King, the Widow and Rick," as seen in the trailer for the coming outing. At the end of this past week's episode, Rick was walking off on his own toward enemy territory with nothing more than an assault rifle as company, while Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) drove off for parts unknown. Now we know Rick's destination: the Heaps, where Jadis presides as queen. In the trailer for the episode, Rick tries one last time to negotiate with the infuriating Trash Queen, now that tensions between Alexandria and the Sanctuary have boiled over into All-Out War.

"Your choice is the same thing I wanted before: a deal, or we destroy you," Rick tells Jadis at the start of the trailer — and by the end of it, he makes it clear how that war will pan out: "My people will win."

Of course, there's a whole lot more than Rick and Jadis' impending negotiation to look forward to in the next week of Walking Dead. Given the episode's title, fans should expect to see the King and the Widow in action as well — Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan), for those of you having trouble keeping nicknames straight. For his part, Ezekiel is absent from the trailer, while Maggie is seen debating the fate of the imprisoned Saviors with Jesus (Tom Payne), seemingly the lone voice of mercy on his side of the fight.

It also looks like the coming episode will put the spotlight back on some players we haven't seen since the season premiere: Carl (Chandler Riggs), seen prowling through the forest and fending off a pack of walkers, as well as Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Rosita (Christian Serratos), featured in a sneak peek at the next episode driving off on a scout — a deviation from Rick's plan that could prove deadly, seeing as both warriors aren't exactly in their best fighting condition, thanks to injuries weathered in the season seven finale.
