Fox's Wayward Pines has a new leading man.

The Lost Boys, Rush and Narc alum Jason Patric has been tapped to star in season two of the drama from M. Night Shyamalan, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

In season two, Wayward Pines will pick up after the events of the season one finale, with the residents of Wayward Pines battling against the iron-fisted rule of the First Generation. Dr. Theo Yedlin — a new resident of the town — awakens from suspended animation and finds himself in the middle of this rebellion as he tries to understand what Wayward Pines really is and help preserve the endangered human race.

Patric will play Dr. Theo Yedlin, a confident, driven surgeon whose leadership skills will prove invaluable to the residents of Wayward Pines.

Patric takes over the void created during the season one finale in which star Matt Dillion's character, Ethan, was killed off. Patric's character is one of several new season two additions as the Fox limited series reboots itself following the shocking finale. The series is currently casting the series regular roles of Theo's wife, an underground rebel and a teenager who is part of the town's new brain trust, as well as three other recurring parts. It's unclear which of the season one surviving cast will return for the show's sophomore outing.

For Patric, meanwhile, the role marks the veteran film actor's series regular debut. He was previously attached to star in comic book adaptation Power when it was originally developed for FX. His credits include Speed 2, Narc and Your Friends & Neighbors. He's repped by Gersh, LINK Entertainment and Bloom Hergott.

Set to return in the summer for a second round of 10 episodes, series developer/creator Chad Hodge will not return as showrunner on the series based on Black Crouch's book. Mark Friedman (Believe, The Forgotten) will take over as showrunner and exec produce alongside Donald De Line (Green Lantern), Ashwin Rajan (Devil), Crouch and Shyamalan.
