Wendell Pierce Set as Clarence Thomas in HBO's 'Confirmation' (Exclusive)
HBO has found its Clarence Thomas.
Treme and The Odd Couple's Wendell Pierce has been tapped to play the Supreme Court justice in Confirmation, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Confirmation, from HBO Films, details the explosive 1991 Supreme Court nomination hearings (at which Anita Hill testified), that brought the country to a standstill and forever changed the way people think about sexual harassment, victims' rights and modern-day race relations.

Scandal star Kerry Washington is attached to play Hill and executive produce.
Academy Award-nominated writer Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich) will pen the script and executive produce the drama, which hails from Groundswell Productions in association with ABC Signature Studios. Groundswell CEO Michael London (ABC's upcoming soap Astronaut Wives Club) and production president Janice Williams will executive produce alongside Grant and Washington.
Dope's Rick Famuyiwa will direct the TV movie, which will begin production in the early summer.
Pierce continues to co-star on CBS' The Odd Couple reboot, which has been inching closer to a second season renewal, and is set to reprise his role on the upcoming third season of Showtime's Ray Donovan. He next co-stars in Joel Edgerton's The Gift. The Treme and The Wire alum will also release a memoir based on his experiences in post-Katrina New Orleans called The Wind in the Reeds on Sept. 8 from Riverhead Books. He's repped by Paradigm and Essential Talent Management.
