Wes Craven is ready to make a big TV splash.

The horror icon has signed a first-look overall deal with studio Universal Cable Productions and is teaming with its sibling network Syfy to bring The People Under the Stairs and We Are All Completely Fine to the small screen.

"Wes is an icon whose films have captivated audiences for decades," UCP exec vp development Dawn Olmstead said in a release announcing the news Monday. "We're thrilled to be working with him, and to be able to bring his enormous talent and unique blend of horror, humor and intelligence to television."

Under the deal, Craven, Syfy and UCP will develop We Are All Completely Fine, based on the book by Daryl Gregory. Fine tells the story of an enigmatic psychologist, Dr. Jan Sayer, who gathers survivors of five horror movie scenarios in a support group — and unwittingly unlocks the evils of her patients’ pasts. As their traumas are brought back to the surface, they uncover which monsters they face are within ... and which are lurking in plain sight. Craven will write the script and direct the pilot. Craven, Ben Smith and Jeffrey Weiner from Captivate Entertainment, and Sara Bottfeld from Industry Entertainment will executive produce.

The People Under the Stairs, meanwhile, is based on Craven's classic 1991 film of the same name. When a young woman goes missing at the grand Robeson Family Manor, the search for her unveils the centuries-old horrors that lie deep within the estate. It is described as a contemporary Downton Abbey meets Amityville Horror. Craven, Shep Gordon from Alive Productions, and Michael ReiszTracey Murray and Bottfeld from Industry Entertainment are set to executive produce. Reisz (Shadowhunters, Unforgettable) will pen the script.

The UCP deal and pair of Syfy projects come as MTV is poised to launch its TV adaptation of Scream, with Craven on board to executive produce the series.

For UCP, Craven becomes the latest producer to sign with the studio. The NBCUniveral-owned studio has first-looks in place with Benderspink (with Dreadstar in the works), IDW Entertainment (Night Mary) and Black Mask Studios (Five Ghosts) as well as overall deals with The Walking Dead's Gale Anne Hurd and Jason Blum's Blumhouse Productions.

Craven is repped by WME, Industry and Ziffren Brittenham. Reisz is with CAA, Industry and Hansen Jacobson.
