Wesley Snipes is headed to NBC.

The Blade trilogy alum has been tapped to star in the network's drama pilot Endgame, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

From The Blacklist producers John Davis and John Fox, Endgame takes place in the high stakes world of Las Vegas, where a former sniper-turned-security expert (Strike Back's Philip Winchester) is drawn into a mysterious conspiracy that forces him to complete a series of heroic challenges in order to save innocent lives.

Snipes will play Johnson, an unflappable guy with a dry sense of humor. Highly intelligent and analytical. Mysterious ?and unreadable. As pit boss for The Game, he keeps an eye on the big picture but is also capable of cleaning up a mess when things spiral too far out of control.

The Librarians' John Rogers will pen the script for Sony Pictures Television and exec produce alongside Davis and Fox via Davis Entertainment.

For Snipes, the role — should Engame go to series — would become his first TV regular gig, making the actor the latest feature actor to head to the small screen. Last season, Snipes was in prolonged negotiations to star in Fox's Empire, in the role that eventually went to Terrence Howard. The role also marks a return of sorts for Snipes, who served more than two and a half years in prison for tax evasion charges. Since then, he has starred in The Expendables 3.

Snipes becomes the latest black leading man to board a pilot this season as broadcast networks take advantage of the success of series with African-American leads including ABC breakouts Scandal, How to Get Away With Murder and Fox's Empire, among others.

Snipes' TV credits include guest roles on Miami Vice and The Bernie Mac Show. On the feature side, his work includes New Jack City, Demolition Man, White Men Can't Jump and One Night Stand. He's repped by APA.
