'Y: The Last Man' Adds Amber Tamblyn to FX Pilot Cast
FX continues to assemble an impressive cast for its take on Y: The Last Man.
Amber Tamblyn has joined the cast of the drama pilot based on Brian K. Vaughan's beloved comic.
Y: The Last Man ranks as one of the most critically acclaimed comic book series of all time. The DC Comics/Vertigo title was first launched in 2002 and revolves around Yorick Brown — the last surviving human with a Y chromosome — and his Capuchin monkey, Ampersand. The series follows escape artist Yorick after a mysterious plague as he sets out to find what might have wiped out the male chromosome. Y: The Last Man, written and created by Vaughan and artist Pia Guerra, ran for 60 issues and has been collected in multiple graphic novels.
Tamblyn will portray Mariette Callows, the daughter of the president of the United States who has been groomed for a career in politics and to uphold her father's conservative values. The actress joins a cast that includes Diane Lane and Barry Keoghan, with the latter set to portray Yorick. Imogen Poots, Lashana Lynch, Juliana Canfield and Marin Ireland round out the cast.
Tamblyn's TV credits include Two and a Half Men, House, The Unusuals and Joan of Arcadia. On the feature side, she has had roles in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, 127 Hours and Django Unchained. Tamblyn is repped by UTA and Sloane Offer.
Michael Green (American Gods, Blade Runner 2049, Logan) and Aïda Mashaka Croal (Luke Cage, Turn) will serve as showrunners and executive producers. Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of Color Force (American Crime Story, Pose, The Hunger Games) and Vaughan developed the series and will exec produce. Melina Matsoukas (Insecure, Master of None, Beyonce: Formation) will direct the pilot and exec produce the FX Productions drama.
