Anchor Bay Entertainment is teaming up with Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment to release the Gina Carano action movie In the Blood.
Anchor Bay picked up the North American rights to the thriller, planning a limited theatrical release in 2014 plus a Blu-ray/DVD/VOD release to be jointly distributed with Fox.
A showcase for the MMA fighter-turned-action star, Blood sees Carano as a wife whose husband disappears while they’re on their honeymoon in the Caribbean. She takes matters into her own hands and pursues the men who took him, uncovering a deeper conspiracy.
John Stockwell (Blue Crush, Into the Blue) directed the picture, which co-stars Stephen Lang, Luis Guzman, Amaury Nolasco, Cam Gigandet, Danny Trejo, Treat Williams, Ismael Cruz Cordova and Yvette Yates.
Blood was written by Bennett Yellin and James Robert Johnston.
Shaun Redick and Ray Mansfield of Movie Package Company produced, with Andrew Mann acting as executive producer. Cash Warren and Marina Grasic also produced.
The film was financed by The Way We Roll Productions and MICA Entertainment. Cargo Entertainment is handling international sales.
Carano made her acting debut with Haywire, which Steven Soderbergh crafted around her. She also co-starred in this year’s Fast & Furious 6.
