Joe Manganiello, Christian Slater, Vanessa Hudgens, and Yetide Badaki have joined the growing voice cast of Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, the anime spinoff for Netflix’s upcoming Zack Snyder zombie horror heist thriller, Army of the Dead, the company announced Thursday.
Dave Bautista, Ana De La Reguera, Tig Notaro, Omari Hardwick and Ella Purnell are reprising their feature roles in the anime series. Snyder’s live action movie, currently in post-production, sees Dave Bautista lead an international cast and follows a group of mercenaries who try to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted in a zombie-infested Las Vegas, Nevada. No debut date is currently set although it is expected to hit in 2021.
Also joining the swelling roll call are Harry Lennix (The Blacklist), Ross Butler (13 Reasons Why), Anya Chalotra (The Witcher), Jena Malone (Antebellum), Christina Wren (Man of Steel), and Nolan North (Star Trek: Lower Decks).
The anime series will chronicles the origin story of Bautista’s character and his rescue crew during the initial fall of Vegas as they confront the mysterious source of the zombie outbreak.
Snyder will direct two episodes of the anime series while Jay Oliva, who has directed numerous movies for DC Comics’ animated line and was a storyboard artist for Dead, will act as showrunner and also direct two episodes of the series.
Meduzarts Animation Studio will serve as the animation studio.
