Ahead of the Michael Fassbender movie based on Unisoft’s popular video game series, Assassin’s Creed comes to comics this month — and The Hollywood Reporter has exclusive art from the first issue.
The new comic book series from Titan Comics, by Kill Shakespeare writers Anthony Del Col and Conor McCreery and artist Neil Edwards, introduces a new character into the mythology of the franchise: Charlotte de la Cruz, a conspiracy theorist who gets pulled into a real-life conspiracy that reveals her own connection to the Salem Witch Trials, making her a target of the Templar Order, longtime enemy of the Assassins of the franchise’s name.
The first issue of the series will be released in comic book stores and digitally Oct. 14, ahead of the release of the next game in the series, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate on Oct. 23. While waiting, here’s a glimpse at what to expect. (Spoilers: Lots of jumping, and one instance of NSFW language ahead.)
