Matt Smith in Doctor Who Episodic - P 2013
BBCJust as the Doctor himself constantly regenerates into new incarnations after a number of years, so too does the comic book version of Doctor Who. After years of being published by San Diego-based IDW Publishing, the BBC’s long-running science fiction series is returning to the U.K. for a new deal with London’s Titan Comics.
The deal was announced this morning, ending months of speculation over where the comic license for the series would end up next. According to the press release issued by Titan, the deal will see the publisher release material based on the David Tennant, Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi incarnations of the character.

IDW, which held the Who license from 2007 through 2013, released specials series including a celebration of the show’s 50th anniversary and the first-ever cross-franchise crossover the property had ever taken part in, with 2012’s Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation 2 series. The publisher announced the end of its tenure with the license in July last year.
In its release, Titan promised “creative and production teams will be announced in the coming weeks,” with the first of its Doctor Who comics to be released this year.
