Boyd Holbrook, who starred as the villain in Fox’s acclaimed Logan, is reuniting with the studio for a new action project.
The actor is in negotiations to star in, write and executive produce The Thirst, an epic, world-building action-thriller that will be produced by John Davis.
Logline details are being kept deep in a well, but the project is based on an original idea of Holbrook’s and explores a near future where water is a scarce commodity.
The deal strengthens Holbrook’s ties to Fox, for whom he also stars in The Predator. It was during the shooting of the recently wrapped reboot of the 1980s sci-fi action franchise that the actor first pitched Fox executive Matt Reilly his idea for The Thirst.
Davis, who produced Predator, also saw the potential in the project and got behind it. (Davis is a producer on Game Night, the New Line comedy currently in theaters, and is prepping Jungle Cruise, Disney’s adventure pic that will star Dwayne Johnson.)
Reilly will oversee the project on behalf of the studio.
Holbrook, who gained attention for starring on Netflix’s Narcos, will next shoot In the Shadow of the Moon, a genre-bending thriller to be directed by Hap and Leonard creator Jim Mickle. The Thirst is his first major writing project.
Holbrook is repped by CAA and Morris Yorn.
