The Walt Disney Company possibly buying 21st Century Fox would be a dream come true for Marvel fans as it would allow all of the characters to finally work together in an epic feature, like the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War.
It seems the deal would also be pretty great for Chris Evans, who joked Wednesday he could double dip with his characters, Captain America and Fantastic Four member, Human Torch.
“So who do I talk to about a Cap/Human Torch buddy comedy spinoff? I’m thinking Planes, Trains and Automobiles meets Parent Trap,” Evans tweeted.
Before he was Cap, Evans played Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch) in the 2005 film Fantastic Four and the 2007 film, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Neither film managed to hit the box-office highs of Evans’ Captain America films.
Fantastic Four and the X-Men are properties of 21st Century Fox, which is why those characters have been absent of all other Marvel films thus far, whose properties are owned by Disney.
CNBC reports a deal between Disney and Fox is close to being announced, maybe even as early as next week. The value of the Fox assets in the deal is seen as above $60 billion, according to sources cited by CNBC.
