The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part got a roaring reaction in Hall H as Chris Pratt and Elizabeth Banks took the stage.
Despite the enthusiasm, there was an elephant in the room overhanging Warner Bros.’ Comic-Con panel, which came one day after Disney fired Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn for resurfaced, controversial tweets. Pratt rose to a prominent level of stardom in 2014 thanks to the first Guardians film. On Saturday his Guardians co-star Dave Bautista publicly stated he’s “not OK” with Gunn’s firing.
During the panel, Pratt got a massive reception from the crowd. During a very brief Q&A session, Gunn was not brought up.

Pratt and Banks introduced new footage, including a clip that had the aesthetics of Mad Max: Fury Road, during the panel. The footagge revealed that there will be jokes about Pratt’s other films, via a character who mocks other roles Pratt has played, in The Lego Movie 2. Footage also offered a look at Harley Quinn and Batman together, as well as the debut of Tiffany Haddish’s Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi. The footage has not hit online.
Later, Warner Bros. held a press event with stars from Aquaman and Godzilla: King of the Monsters. It originally was to also include Pratt and Banks, but the Lego Movie stars did not attend.
The Lego Movie, directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, earned $469.1 million in 2014. Mike Mitchell directed The Lego Movie 2, which takes place five years after the original and sees outer-space invaders known as Lego Duplo threaten Bricksburg.
The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part is set for Feb. 8, 2019.
