The European Shooting Stars, an annual list of the top 10 new acting talents coming out of Europe, unveiled its 2021 roster on Tuesday.
They include Germany’s Albrecht Schuch, who caught international attention for his performances in System Crasher (2019) and Berlin Alexanderplatz (2020); Irish actor Fionn O’Shea, who stars in David Freyne’s Dating Amber (2020) and has a supporting role in Hulu drama Normal People (2020); Natasa Stork, the star of Hungary’s international feature Oscar contender Preparations to be Together for an Unknown Period of Time (2020); and Nicolas Maury, a member of the ensemble cast of Netflix’s French hit Call My Agent! who made his directorial debut last year with the dramedy My Best Part, in which he also stars.

Other 2021 European Shooting Stars include Dutch actor Martijn Lakemeier (The East, Winter in Wartime); the Portuguese performer Alba Baptista, star of Simon Barry’s Warrior Nun (2020); Finnish actress Seidi Haarla, who appeared in the omnibus drama Force of Habit (2019) and has her first feature lead in the upcoming Trans-Siberian-Railway-set drama Compartment No 6. from director Juho Kuosmanen; Lithuanian actress Zygimante Elena Jakstaite, who debuts in this year’s Runner from director Andrius Blazevicius; Sara Klimoska from North Macedonia, who stars in Igor Aleksov’s feature film debut Lena and Vladimir, which will also be released this year; and Gustav Lindh, the Swedish actor who shined alongside Trine Dyrholm in May el-Toukhy’s Queen of Hearts (2019).
European Film Promotion, the group which organizes the European Shooting Stars program, will present the 10 talents to the international film industry, producers, agents, and the international press, in a three-day online event Feb. 23-25, a week before the industry events of the virtual 71st Berlin International Film Festival, held March 1-5.
The 10 talents will gather in Berlin in person this summer for a formal Shooting Stars Award Ceremony that will take place as part of the Berlinale screenings.
