Sky Deutschland, the German pay-TV group controlled by Rupert Murdoch‘s 21st Century Fox, has signed three film rights deals with German indie distributors Tobis, SquareOne Entertainment and Prokino that include select Oscar nominees.
Financial terms of the deals, unveiled on Friday, weren’t disclosed.
The agreements give Sky Deutschland German pay-TV and subscription VOD rights in Germany for packages of feature films from the three firms, including Oscar nominees American Hustle, 12 Years a Slave, Prisoners and August in Osage County (all Tobis); Philomena and All Is Lost (SquareOne) and Before Midnight (Prokino).
Other highlights include Lee Daniels’ The Butler (Prokino) and the hotly-anticipated biopic Grace of Monaco, starring Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly, from SquareOne.
Sky Deutschland, with 3.5 million subscribers Germany’s largest pay-TV operator, has rights deals in place with all the major U.S. studios and most German independents.
