Image Entertainment has picked up all U.S. rights to All Things Fall Apart, the inspirational drama directed by Mario Van Peebles and starring Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Ray Liotta.

Peebles and Lynn Whitfield also topline the movie, which tells the story of a Heisman-bound college football star whose career hits a wall when he is diagnosed with a tumor only inches from his heart.
The movie is being billed as the first straight drama to star Jackson, the rapper-turned-actor who previously appeared in several action movies. The actor reportedly lost 80 pounds for the role.

Fall Apart is produced by Jackson and Randall Emmett via their Cheetah Vision Films partnership. Patricia Eberle, Rionda Del Castro, Anthony Gudas, and Michael Corso are the executive producers.
The movie, which has screened at several festivals, is being eyed for an early 2012 theatrical opening followed by a home entertainment, VOD, digital and broadcast release under the company’s One Village label. The deal between Image and sales agent Hannibal Pictures was inked just before TIFF officially got underway.
Image Bill Bromiley and Brett Dismuke, along with Hannibal’s Del Castro, were central in finalizing the domestic deal.
