Seven Arts Entertainment and GFM Films LLC have acquired their first film for a new distribution joint venture, Yellow, directed by Nick Cassavetes.
Yellow is a dark comedy said to be in the tradition of Cassavetes previous films Alpha Dog and She’s DeLovely. It is described as a dark comedy about a young woman who comes to terms with her family’s shadowed ast.
The cast includes Sienna Miller, Melanie Griffith, Gena Rowlands, Ray Liotta and newcomer Heather Wahlquist.
The movie is now in post-production and will be ready next Spring.
The deal was announced by Peter Hoffman of Seven Arts and Michael Ryan of GFM, who negotiated for worldwide rights with Manu Kumaran of Medient.
Ryan recalled he worked with Nick¹s father the late John Cassavetes, who was an actor and filmmaker.
“I’m very glad to be in business with the Cassavetes family again,” said Ryan, “having worked on so many of John’s movies in the past.”
