COLOGNE, Germany – In a further sign that the German film market continues to resist the downward pull of the Euro crisis, independent distributors Koch Media and Ascot Elite have confirmed multiple deals out of AFM.
Munich-based Koch Media secured German rights to a trio of buzz titles, including the romantic comedy Wonderful Tonight featuring Amanda Seyfried and Patrick Dempsey, the Nicolas Cage thriller Joe and the action comedy Stretch from director Joe Carnahan (The A-Team) which stars Patrick Wilson as a limo driver in Los Angeles going through one crazy night.
Swiss rights group Ascot Elite nabbed German and Swiss rights to pre-sale title The Voices, a psychological thriller from Persepolis director Marjane Satrapi which has Ryan Reynolds attached and which is set to begin shooting in Studio Babelsberg in February.
Ascot also picked up German theatrical and home entertainment rights to the Dean Koontz adaptation Odd Thomas directed by Stephen Sommers (The Mummy) featuring Anton Yelchin, Willem Dafoe and Patton Oswalt; German and Swiss rights for the heist movie Son of a Gun starring Ewan McGregor and German rights for Matthew Cooke‘s documentary How to Make Money Selling Drugs.
