Impacto Cine has swooped in for all Latin America rights, including Mexico and Brazil, to the first four films from Madrid-based production banner Rebel Movie’s ‘Scare’ slate.
The genre titles include Overtime, The Malevolent, The Stacks and Ravenous, which earlier at AFM were snapped up by Alchemy for North America.
Currently in preproduction, Robert Reed Altman’s Ravenous is set to star Tara Reid and tell the story of a couple haunted by so-called “hungry ghosts,” while Ana Coto is on board for thriller The Stacks, about evil spirits roaming beneath a university library. In The Malevolent, Mischa Barton plays a malicious but seductive shape-shifting entity, and Paz De La Huerta stars in Overtime, about an office worker who is the last intended victim of a murderer’s rampage. Both The Malevolent and Overtime are currently in production.
At last year’s AFM, Rebel announced its first production, the “sci-fi erotic drama” Mindgate, starring Rachael Leigh Cook. The film is currently in pre-prod and is on the 2015 AFM slate.
