Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam has boarded A Prayer Before Dawn, the Thai boxing prison thriller by director Jean-Stephane Sauvaire.
Hunnam is already in training for Muay Thai sequences, according to the film’s producers Senorita Films and Hurricane Films. HanWay Films will launch worldwide sales for A Prayer Before Dawn at AFM ahead of an early 2015 shoot.
The film portrays the true-life story of Billy Moore, who served time in Thailand’s notorious Klong Prem prison, also known as the Bangkok Hilton. A Prayer Before Dawn portrays Moore taking up Muay Thai boxing to secure freedom and redemption in the ring.
The producing credits are shared by ex-Wild Bunch exec Rita Dagher of Senorita Films, Sol Papadopoulos of the U.K.’s Hurricane Films and Roy Boulter, who originally optioned Moore’s memoir that Nick Saltrese adapted for the screenplay.
Hunnam, who plays Jax Teller in FX’s Sons of Anarchy, also starred in Guillermo del Toro‘s Crimson Peak and is set to star as King Arthur in Guy Ritchie‘s King Arthur project for Warner Bros.
Hunnam is repped by Brillstein Entertainment Partners, CAA and Sloane, Offer.
