Gary Michael Schultz wrote the screenplay and will also direct the film.
The film follows down-on-their-luck rebels Vincent (Hirsch) and Roxxy (Kravitz), who fall in love and fall apart when their violent pasts catch up with them. Anton Yelchin and Megalyn Echikunwoke previously had been attached to star.
Principal photography is scheduled to begin this December in Louisiana.
Fortitude International is introducing the project to foreign buyers at the upcoming American Film Market. WME is handling domestic distribution rights.
“Vincent-N-Roxxy is a very personal story for me and, at its core, it is a story about love, family and the unrelenting presence of violence,” Schultz said. “I am very inspired by the work of Emile and Zoe and cannot wait to tell this story with these remarkable artists.”
Added Kjarval: “Gary has written a stunning portrait of love and violence, and frankly he has tapped into what America looks and feels like right now while also creating a timelessness. Adding powerhouses like Emile and Zoe only cements our belief that we are creating a classic.”
Fortitude International, the sales and financing venture launched earlier this year by Nadine de Barros, Robert Ogden Barnum and Daniel Wagner is currently handling sales on the James Ponsoldt-helmed The End of the Tour, starring Jesse Eisenberg and Jason Segel; Urge, starring Pierce Brosnan, Jeff Fahey and Ashley Greene; and the Keanu Reeves starrer Daughter of God.
Unified recently wrapped the dark comedy The Driftless Area, which stars Zooey Deschanel, Yelchin and John Hawkes. The company’s recent films include William H. Macy‘s directorial debut Rudderless, starring Billy Crudup, Yelchin and Selena Gomez; and the dramedy Loitering With Intent. The company’s animation division has a CG-animated Noah’s Ark project in the works.
Hirsch is repped by UTA. Kravitz is handled by Paradigm.
