Swelter Still - H 2013
The ExchangeJean-Claude Van Damme‘s Swelter has proved to be a hot title for Brian O’Shea‘s The Exchange, which has nearly sold out the world on the film following its premiere at the American Film Market earlier this month.
The Exchange has closed multiple deals for the picture including with Anchor Bay for the U.K., Planet Media for Germany and Switzerland, Revolutionary Releasing for the CIS territories as well as Poland and the Baltics, and Culture Convenience Club for Japan. The company said it is in negotiations for a North American deal, which it expects to announce soon.
In Swelter, veteran action star Van Damme plays the former head a gang that pulls off a $100 million robbery of the Luxor Casino in Las Vegas. His four partners are captured and spend the next 10 years in a maximum-security prison before pulling off a daring escape. They track down their former boss, only to find him working as a sheriff in a small town and with no memory of his violent past. The film, from director Keith Parmer (Mob Rules), also stars Alfred Molina, Lennie James, Catalina Sandino Moreno and Freya Tingley.
Swelter is the first feature completed under the auspices of Exchange Peaks Film Capital, the fund set up by The Exchange and Denver-based company Grand Peaks Entertainment.
Alan Simpson from Grand Peaks and Chris Ranta from The Exchange produced the movie with Don Simpson from Grand Peaks and Nat McCormick, Laura Ivey and Brian O’Shea from The Exchange as executive producers.
