In one of the biggest deals of this year’s AFM thus far, Paramount has picked up North American, U.K. and French rights to Book Club for $10 million, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The deal was brokered by Endeavor Content, with Paramount planning a wide release of the June Pictures project in 2018.
The comedy — which stars Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, Mary Steenburgen, Andy Garcia, Don Johnson, Craig T. Nelson, Richard Dreyfuss, Alicia Silverstone, Tommy Dewey, Katie Aselton, Ed Begley Jr. and Wallace Shawn — is the directorial debut of Bill Holderman, who co-wrote the screenplay with Erin Simms.
Book Club centers on a group of lifelong friends now in their 60s who read Fifty Shades of Grey in their monthly book club and have their lives changed forever.
Holderman, Simms, Andrew Duncan and Alex Saks are producing the film, which is being co-financed by June Pictures and Endeavor Content. Bloom is handling international sales.
