Alchemy has hired Jim Jenkins as senior vp business development and mergers & acquisitions.
Jenkins becomes the first executive appointed since the company changed its name this week from Millennium Entertainment to Alchemy. He will work closely with Alchemy CEO Bill Lee to identify and evaluate potential growth strategies and acquisitions targets for the company.
“Jim is a seasoned executive with a rich, deep understanding of the entertainment industry,” Lee said. “We look to grow Alchemy by making wise decisions as to the companies we acquire and I am confident in Jim’s expertise to gather all the knowledge, data and perspective we need to accomplish that goal.”
Before Alchemy, Jenkins served as Sony DADC’s senior vp business development, where he evaluated new business opportunities in North America as well as oversaw the company’s business improvement and cost-reduction projects. At Sony, he re-engineered the company’s process for pricing decision support for existing and new business opportunities, redesigned systems for managing pricing and invoicing, and created new tools for evaluating customer-level profitability.
Before Sony, Jenkins consulted for a number of companies including Cinram, Sony BMG Music Entertainment and Hit Entertainment. He also previously held executive posts at Lionsgate and Artisan Entertainment.
In August, Lee partnered with Virgo Investment Group, a private investment firm, to acquire the Millennium catalog assets and film distribution platform. Yesterday, Bill Lee announced that Alchemy would be the new brand name of the leading independent film and television distributor and content owner, a name that embodies the company’s goals of uniting storytellers and their audiences in one dynamic community.
Up next, Alchemy will release director Barry Levinson‘s The Humbling starring Al Pacino and Greta Gerwig.
