The movie, which has a release date of March 18, 2016, is being directed by Tom McGrath, one of DWA’s go-to helmers, with such credits as the Madagascar movies and Megamind.
Ramsey Naito (The Spongebob Squarepants Movie) and Denise Cascino (Mr. Peabody & Sherman, Megamind) are producing, with Michael McCullers (Austin Powers films) handling script duties.
Boss Baby is described as a fantastical family comedy centering on a fast-talking, briefcase-carrying baby (Baldwin) and his seven-year-old brother, who is jealous of him.
As DWA puts it, when the brother “embarks on a mission to win back the sole affection of his parents, he stumbles upon a secret plot by the CEO of Puppy Co. (voiced by Spacey) that threatens to destroy the balance of love in the world — and this brash baby executive masquerading as his new brother is at the center of it all. Now, they must come together as true brothers to stop the dastardly scheme, save their parents, restore order to the world and prove that love is indeed an infinite force.”
The movie is loosely based on the award-winning picture book by Marla Frazee.
20th Century Fox is releasing the movie.
Baldwin previously voiced DWA’s Rise of the Guardians and Madagascar 2: Escape From Africa.
Boss Baby will be Spacey’s first major voicework for an animated feature since 1998’s A Bug’s Life.
