The Fifth Wave actor Alex Roe and Jessica Rothe, who will next be seen MTV’s comedy series Mary + Jane, will star in the indie drama Forever My Girl.
Bethany Ashton Wolf (Little Chenier) is directing the indie from a screenplay she wrote based on the book of the same title by Heidi McLaughlin.
The novel, first published in 2012, follows a man (Roe) who was the star quarterback and was all set to marry his high school sweetheart (Rothe). But then he leaves her at the altar and instead decides to pursue a country music career. After becoming a star, he returns home 10 years later in hopes of reuniting with his one true love, and also the daughter he never knew he had.
Mickey Liddell, Pete Shilaimon and Jennifer Monroe of LD Entertainment are producing the adaptation. LD Entertainment is fully financing the film with production set to start in the summer in Atlanta.
Rothe will next be seen in MTV’s new series Mary + Jane in September, and on the big screen in Lionsgate’s musical La La Land, directed by Whiplash helmer Damien Chazelle and starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. She’s repped by Gersh and Principato-Young Entertainment.
Roe’s upcoming films include Paramount’s horror film Rings and Hot Summer Nights, which also stars Maika Monroe and Thomas Jane. He’s repped by WME and Luber Roklin Entertainment.
Wolf is repped by APA.
LD’s upcoming releases include the WWII thriller Anthropoid starring Cillian Murphy and Jamie Dornan, Jackie, the Natalie Portman starrer about First Lady Jackie Kennedy, The Zookeeper’s Wife starring Jessica Chastain and the Megan Leavey biopic Leavey, starring Kate Mara.
