Alexander Payne is packing his bags for My Saga.
The Descendants helmer will direct the road-trip movie, which is based on Karl Ove Knausgaard’s travel articles that he penned for New York Times Magazine in which the Norwegian writer traced the Vikings’ historic trek through North America.
The project currently does not have a writer attached.
The Bona Fide Productions project will be produced by Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa, who recently worked with Payne on 2013’s Nebraska. Madeleine Ekman and Lizette Jonic of Zentropa Sweden also will produce.
The director is currently working on Paramount’s Downsizing, which sees him reteaming with Election star Reese Witherspoon.
Payne is repped by CAA and Bloom Hergott.
