YA adaptation All the Bright Places has landed at Netflix and has rounded out its cast as it heads into production.
Alexandra Shipp, Keegan-Michael Key and Luke Wilson are joining the movie that will be lead by Elle Fanning and Justice Smith.
Based on the 2015 best-seller by Jennifer Niven, the story follows Violet Markey (Fanning) and Theodore Finch (Smith), two high schoolers who struggle with mental illness and who come together to discover the wonders within themselves and the world around them.
Broadway star Kelli O’Hara, Runaways actor Virginia Gardner and Felix Mallard, star of CBS’ Happy Together, are also on board. The movie has begun filming in Cleveland, Ohio. Lamar Johnson, who can be seen this weekend in Fox’s The Hate U Give and is set for A24’s Native Son, will also star, along with Sofia Hasmik.
Brett Haley, who helmed Sundance standout Hearts Beat Loud, will direct from a script by Niven and The Post writer Liz Hannah.
Fanning is producing, along with Mazur Kaplan’s Paula Mazur and Mitchell Kaplan, and Echo Lake’s Andrew Spaulding, Doug Mankoff and Brittany Kahan. Hannah, Robert Salerno, Kimi Armstrong Stein are exec producing.
This is the latest pickup for the streamer, which recently landed Jennifer Garner-starrer Yes Day and Steven Soderbergh’s latest, High Flying Bird.
Shipp, who is repped by WME, LINK and Stone Genow, will next be seen reprising her role as Storm in the X-Men film Dark Phoenix and will also be starring in the Shaft sequel. Key, who is in theaters now with Fox’s The Predator, is repped by UTA and Bloom Hergott. Wilson, who will star in The Goldfinch adaptation, is repped by CAA and Hirsch Wallerstein.
Johnson, who is also set for Dark Phoenix, is repped by WME, Stride and Jackoway Austen. O’Hara is repped by ICM and Perennial. Gardner is repped by UTA and 3 Arts. Mallard is repped by Linsten, Echo Lake and Stone Genow. Hasmik is repped by Global Artist Agency and Think Tank.
