Amy Poehler’s and Brooke Posch’s production banner Paper Kite has acquired the film rights to Jennifer Mathieu’s upcoming feminist YA book Moxie.
Moxie, which will hit shelves via Roaring Brook Press on Sept. 19, follows a 16-year-old girl from a small Texas town who is inspired by her mother’s Riot Grrrl past and starts a feminist revolution at her high school.
The book was previously listed on THR’s Rights Available list.
Poehler’s and Posch’s production banner is behind both the hit series Broad City on Comedy Central and Difficult People on Hulu. The company is repped by WME, 3 Arts Entertainment and Warren Dern, and has an overall deal at Universal.
Paradigm brokered the film deal on behalf of book agent Kerry Sparks at Levine Greenberg Rostan Literary.
