For THR‘s sixth annual stylist issue, THR‘s style team focused, as always, on the breakouts who were the talk of awards season and the red carpet. The result is the 25 Most Powerful Stylists in Hollywood portfolio, in which stars including Saoirse Ronan, Brie Larson and Amy Schumer pose alongside their go-to sartorial pros. Scheduling six separate fashion shoots within a matter of weeks is no easy feat: “One came together the day before pages started to close,” says THR photo editor Michelle Stark, who adds that Michael B. Jordan and stylist Jeff K. Kim were a particularly fun pair to shoot. (“Jeff knows how to move in front of the camera.”)
The list ranks the town’s top stylists based on the impact of the looks they created in the past year — from Cate Blanchett’s feather embroidered Alexander McQueen at the BAFTAs to Mr. Robot‘s Rami Malek in Ovadia & Sons at the SAG Awards. Says THR style editor Carol McColgin, who manages the project: “The list changes every year — but this year brings in a lot of fresh faces. Hopefully after six years, we’re still able to surprise.” And in case the list isn’t enough, check out the sneak peek at the costumes from Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie or the profile on Marc Jacobs, at another turning point in his relationship with Hollywood. “Suddenly I feel about the red carpet the way I used to about Instagram,” says Jacobs of his new outlook. “I love seeing actresses in our clothes — the right actresses, wearing them the right way.”
