Amy Schumer is officially a mother.
The comedian welcomed her first child, a son, with husband Chris Fischer on Sunday.
Schumer posted the news on Instagram on Monday, joking, “10:55 p.m. last night. Our royal baby was born.”
One day later, Schumer revealed the child’s name in a post that included a picture of Fischer holding the baby boy: “Gene Attell Fischer And his dad Chris,” she wrote.
Schumer announced her pregnancy in October by sharing a photo of her and Fischer’s faces superimposed on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bodies. She has joked about being on roughly the same pregnancy cycle as Markle ever since. The royal couple also welcomed a son on Monday.

The next month, Schumer, 37, was hospitalized in Texas with hyperemesis gravidarum, a pregnancy complication resulting in intense nausea. “I am in the hospital. I’m fine. Baby’s fine but everyone who says the 2nd trimester is better is not telling the full story. I’ve been even more ill this trimester,” she wrote on social media, adding, “I have hyperemesis and it blows. Very lucky to be pregnant but this is some bullshit! Sending so much love to the doctors and nurses taking great care of me and Tati! They are cool as hell!”
Schumer subsequently cancelled several comedy shows, and later opened up on Late Night With Seth Meyers about the difficulty of her pregnancy. “It’s been pretty tough; I didn’t know that pregnancies were such a bummer,” she said.
Schumer decided to forgo a baby shower (“That seems like a nightmare for me”), but her sister baked her a baby-themed cake with the face in between two butt cheeks. “I ate it,” she joked with Meyers.
Schumer married Fischer, a chef, in February 2018 at a Malibu ceremony in front of 80 guests, including Jennifer Lawrence, Chelsea Handler, Jake Gyllenhaal, David Spade and Jennifer Aniston. Instead of wedding gifts, she asked attendees to donate to Everytown for Gun Safety.
Schumer’s latest stand-up special, Growing, hit Netflix on March 19. The show, which she filmed while pregnant, was filled with jokes about her pregnancy and marriage.
