Angelina Jolie alleged in a court filing Tuesday that estranged husband Brad Pitt has not paid any “meaningful” child support since Jolie filed for divorce two years ago.
“[Pitt] has a duty to pay child support. As of present, [Pitt] has paid no meaningful child support since separation,” wrote Samantha Bley DeJean, Jolie’s attorney, in a two-page brief filed in Los Angeles Superior Court according to NBC News.
The court filing did not define what “meaningful” child support entails, though it did state that Jolie plans on filing a request for a court order, NBC News reported. “Given the informal arrangements around the payment of the children’s expenses have not been regularly sustained by [Pitt] for over a year and a half, [Jolie] intends to file an RFO for the establishment of a retroactive child support order,” it said.
Jolie’s lawyers have requested to appear before a judge to schedule a status conference to discuss the financial issue between the former couple, NBC News reported.
Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in September 2016, citing irreconcilable differences. The former couple dated for nearly 10 years before getting married in August 2014. They share six children.
Following the news of the divorce, Pitt was accused of being rough with his kids on a private plane. While the incident was reported to the authorities, the FBI cleared Pitt of any wrongdoing and chose not to investigate the actor for child abuse.
