It’s already been quite a year for Anne Hathaway, but the star of Dark Knight Rises and the upcoming Hugh Jackman film Les Misérables has more than box office numbers to be happy about. The 29-year-old actress married her beau of nearly four years, Adam Shulman, on the romantic California coastal town of Big Sur.
In front of more than 100 friends and family members, Hathway walked down the aisle in a much-talked about wedding dress: a custom design by her friend, 80-year-old fashion icon Valentino Garavani.
After Hathaway and Shulman got engaged this past November, speculations for Hathaway’s impending dress designer immediately came rolling in. But the choice, we imagine, was not difficult for the fashionable actress who has worn practically every label on fall’s fashion week runways. Hathway chose a whimsical gown designed by Valentino, who confirmed to E! News last week that he did the dress for his “very good friend” who he describes as being like a daughter to him. The Hollywood Reporter predicted the wedding designer choice immediately after she got engaged, citing Hathway’s friendship with Valentino for more than a decade (he’s even walked her down the Oscar red carpet).
Big Sur, known for its picturesque views of the Pacific and its majestic nature, is a popular choice for weddings. More recently, Natalie Portman also chose the coastal town for her nuptials, and it was reported that the actresses also shared the same wedding planner, Yifat Oren.
The blushing bride’s Valentino gown was a tulle, off-the-shoulder princess gown, with an extra-long veil and a statement-making head wrap. Shulman wore a dapper tuxedo and bowtie for the outdoor locale.
Mazel tov to the happy couple!
