Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty ImagesCOLOGNE, Germany – Still under fire in the U.S. for his infidelities and separation from wife Maria Shriver, Arnold Schwarzenegger says he is enjoying the Mozart and the schnitzel of Austria, the country of his birth.
Speaking to an environmental conference in the Austrian capital Vienna, Schwarzenegger focussed less on green issues than on the simple pleasures of home. Speaking first in German instead of English to the audience, the former governor of California mused on the familiar things he misses in America such as “the music of Mozart” and a “juicy Wiener schnitzel.”
Schwarzenegger received a warm welcome in Austria at the 2011 Energy Forum. While his popularity has tumbled in America following revelations he fathered with his housekeeper Mildred Baena, Schwarzenegger’s environmental record as governor makes him a hero to many in the green movement. “I am extremely happy to be here again,” Schwarzenegger told the conference.
And never one to leave without quoting one of his films, the Terminator star promised “I’ll be back” to his Austrian hometown of Thal this autumn, to open a Schwarzenegger museum.
