Arnold Schwarzenegger is ready to go back before the cameras in a modern-day Western called The Last Stand.
The former governor of California put his plans to return to the big screen on hold back in May when the news first broke that he had fathered a child with his housekeeper, but he is now on board to star in the Lionsgate feature, a spokesman for the actor confirmed.
Stand will be the U.S. debut of South Korean filmmaker Kim Ji-woon, known for the gory horror film like I Saw the Devil and the China-set “Western” The Good, the Bad, the Weird. He’s described the new project as a cross between Die Hard and High Noon.
Written by Andrew Knauer, Stand concerns a small-town sheriff who must make a stand when a drug cartel leader tries to make a run for the Mexican border. Lorenzo Di Bonaventura is producing for his Di Bonaventura Pictures.
Schwarzenegger is repped by CAA.
