NEW DELHI – A photo of a bearded Ashton Kutcher walking in the bylanes of Old Delhi near the famous Jama Masjid mosque has made news here after it hit social media sites including Facebook and Twitter. The “I Love New Delhi” Facebook group uploaded the photo on its page.
Leading newspaper The Hindustan Times published the photo Thursday with a report claiming that the actor has been shooting some India sequences for the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic since last week in various locations.

The independent biopic is directed by Joshua Michael Stern and produced and financed by Five Star Institute’s Mark Hulme.
Quoting an unnamed source, the newspaper said that Kutcher has shot scenes in the north Indian holy city of Vrindavan. “He shot a couple of scenes there that show that he is meeting someone and attaining enlightenment,” the report said quoting the source. It also mentioned that Kutcher is accompanied by his father Larry and contrary to earlier reported rumors, Mila Kunis is not traveling with him in India.

Steve Jobs’ India connection goes back to 1973 when as a 18-year-old backpacker, he visited the country with Dan Kottke after both friends dropped out of Reed College in Portland, Oregon. The duo wanted to visit the ashram of Indian mystic, Neem Karoli Baba but when they got there, they found that the mystic had died a year earlier. They next visited the ashram of another mystic, Hariakhan Baba as their travels took them around North Indian locations including the capital Delhi.
Kutcher is staying at the upscale Claridges Hotel in Delhi as confirmed by a source who told the newspaper, “Yes, he is staying with us and he is a really cool person. He arrived here late Monday evening.”
The film’s shooting schedule could include other locations with Kutcher expected to fly out by Sept. 3.
