The most recently released Avengers clip featured Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow kicking some serious butt with her hands literally tied behind her back.

Now, another strong actress is featured in a clip from Joss Whedon’s film. Cobie Smulders, best known for her role as Robin on How I Met Your Mother, stars as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill in the ensemble film.
While her character has been relatively absent from the majority of past clips, she was front and center in a video shown on The Late Show With David Letterman. Smulders appeared on the show on Monday.

In the clip, S.H.I.E.L.D. leader Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) is walking the stairs of a cavernous dome-shape building with his right-hand woman, Maria Hill, discussing their plans. “Evacuation may be futile,” says Hill.
“Until such time that the world ends, we will act as though it intends to spin on,” says Fury at one point, giving Hill her marching orders.

Last summer, Smulders spoke to THR at Disney’s D23 conference about Avengers. She specifically mentioned a sweat-inducing scene in this “high-security place.”
“We were shooting in this crazy dome. It was the biggest air-sealed vacuum in the world,” said Smulders. “Sam and I were climbing up these steps. We had to go up all these flight of stairs. By the end of it we were just drenched.”
The Avengers, opening in theaters on May 4, stars Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Johansson as a group of superheroes who must ban together to save the world from Thor’s evil brother, Loki (Tom Hiddleston).
