The Avengers trailer debuted on October 11, setting off high-pitched screams of joy from many of the fans of the upcoming superhero epic.
It was so loved, in fact, that it was downloaded more than 10 million times in the first 24 hours that it was available on iTunes, Marvel Studios announced. This shattered the iTunes site’s previous record for most viewed trailer in the site’s history.

The superhero ensemble film, which opens in theaters on May 4, 2012, features an all-star superhero cast, including Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), The Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson). Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) returns as the S.H.I.E.L.D. leader who will guide the world-savers in a battle against Loki (Tom Hiddleston).

Iron Man actor Downey and Thor actor Hemsworth spoke to THR about the ensemble picture at Disney’s D23 conference over the summer about working on the Joss Whedon-helmed project.
“Workload is a little better because it’s spread across the team instead of you holding it all,” said Hemsworth.
“It was actually a pretty tough shoot. It was a very ambitious story, and a long schedule, but nobody had to work too hard,” said Downey.
