Barbra Streisand‘s political leanings are well known as a supporter of President Barack Obama and Democratic predecessor Bill Clinton. So it’s no surprise that the singer, performing at the newly minted Barclays Center in her hometown of Brooklyn on Thursday, seized the moment to sound off on Mitt Romney and the GOP presidential candidate’s threats to cut funding for PBS (and say bye-bye to Big Bird).
“I love Big Bird and I hope no one tells Romney how to get to Sesame Street … or to Pennsylvania Avenue,” cracked Streisand, according to the Huffington Post.
Streisand also said of Romney: “He’s a good actor. [He’s] a chameleon. It’s great.”

Earlier this month, Streisand told The Associated Press that she was “glued” to the Democratic and Republican conventions.
“Thank god Obama’s pulling ahead because it’s a clear choice, you know, in my opinion,” she said. “If you want to survive as a planet, recognize that there is climate change and you want to protect your food and your air and your water from pesticides, chemicals, you want to focus on education and young people and giving health care to the public – there’s no choice.”
Streisand recently released her latest album, Release Me, a compilation of recordings from the ’60s through the ’80s, and embarked on a U.S. concert tour. She’s also working on a duets album.
The Oscar winner stars as a neurotic, type-A mom to Seth Rogen in the road-trip comedy The Guilt Trip, which hits theaters Dec. 25.
